AZEEMA x Foundation FM DJ classes - Supported by Nike

With the aim of introducing more women and non-binary folk from the WANA+SA community into the music industry, we invited 10 people from our network to learn some new skills in the form of DJ'ing. We were so excited to initiate this programme in collaboration with Foundation FM and supported by nike. Each person chosen had little to no experience with DJ’ing prior to these sessions.

Our mentors & workshop leaders were the amazing DJ’s Nooriyah and KG representing Foundation FM. We were also joined by special guest Bamz!

Over the course of 6 months our mentee’s were given an intro to professional DJ Equipment, taught how to source and prep songs, how to beat match and get confident in mixing their own preferences of music. It was such joy to see everyone progress and build their skills up from start to finish and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes everyone.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Foundation FM for hosting us at their station, and to our workshop leaders for putting in so much effort and time. This has to be one of the most fulfilling workshops we’ve done to date.
